The selection of the 2021-2022 Parker Skiba Memorial Scholarship recipients has been completed. This year, there will be 5 students awarded, bringing the total under the program now to 19 since it began in 2018. These are exceptional young students with entrepreneurial ambitions who will inevitably leave a mark on the world in their lives. Below is some information on this year’s scholars. Congrats to all of them!

Anavi Nayak

Anavi Nayak is a freshman in Computer Science and Business Honors (CSB) at UT Austin. She began her interest in computer science during high school, where she had the opportunity to build web applications during internships with Austin City and NASA. In the future, she hopes to apply computer science techniques like machine learning and artificial intelligence to other areas of interest such as Earth science or finance. Anavi also advocates for gender equality in technology as Director of Programs of international nonprofit Project CSGIRLS. On campus, she is involved in University Computational Finance and Convergent, which builds real world applications with software engineering.



Arvind Rathnam

Arvind Rathnam is a Computer Science Honors and Business Honors student under the Texas CSB program at the University of Texas at Austin. Arvind is interested in entrepreneurship in the field of Financial Technology. He also takes part in several competitive programming competitions and he enjoys learning about new data structures and algorithms. In his free time, Arvind loves reading, working out and playing soccer.


Aten Kumar

Aten Kumar is a junior at UT Austin double majoring in computer science and mathematics with a certificate in statistics. Aten enjoys building practical, technical solutions to the everyday problems that his community faces. Equipped with this mission, Aten is president of TPEO (Texas Product Engineering Organization), a new organization in UTCS focused on building software products that solve real-world problems for the Austin community all at no cost. In addition to this, Aten also serves as a board member of UTCS Ambassadors, helping prospective students find their path to the UT Computer Science program. In his free time, he enjoys curating Spotify playlists, watching the Dallas Cowboys, and playing Settlers of Catan with hisfriends. Aten aims to leave a positive impact on the world through the technology he builds with the knowledge he has acquired during his time at UTCS.


Vaidehi Phirke

Vaidehi is a sophomore at the University of Texas at Austin, majoring in Computer Science Honors and Business Honors. Passionate about broadening the reach of STEM, promoting environmental awareness, and finding the good (and the fun!) in everything, Vaidehi is always looking to learn more, give back, and help others.

Daniel Perille

Daniel is a junior computer science student from Chicago, IL. At UT, Daniel has been involved in AI robotics research in the CS department as well as Texas Convergent, a CS & entrepreneurship organization. His goal in studying CS is to one day start his own business and work at the intersection of AI and robotics. Outside of schoolwork, Daniel loves to read, play bass & guitar,
and explore Austin!
